Do We Fear The WORK Word?

The biggest marketing myth I hear continually being perpetrated online is that Internet Marketing is a no work activity.

Really, nothing could be further from the truth. You can believe everyone who is selling their version of a “Get Rich Quick” scheme if you want, but generally the only person who gets rich from information like that is the person supplying them.

For most, typical, people, marketing does require a great deal of effort.

First of all, you have to gain all the skills you need to be a successful marketer and to establish your business. It’s not a good idea to just quit your job and assume that you will pick up those skills and make the money you need to support yourself at the same time.

Let’s be frank. That’s really no different to anyone else who decides to develop a new skill and enrols in evening classes to do this. I’m sure you know many people taking classes of different types, for some kind of self-improvements, and developing marketing skills is the equivalent of one of these.

One of the main differences between learning marketing and learning a skill through evening classes, for most people, is marketing is self-taught and requires your own commitment. It isn’t a typical evening class subject. Nor should it be, as the extra competition in the online marketing space wouldn’t be appreciated by many.

The effort required for marketing doesn’t stop when you’ve learned your trade. The most successful marketers work long hours. Far more hours than they would if they had a day job and guaranteed income. There are always marketing developments to keep track of, new contacts to develop and Internet space to move to.

Internet Marketing definitely isn’t for people who don’t want to work.
